Remembering the life of Dave Morton, life-long Casco Days volunteer

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Casco’s beloved town manager of 41 years, Dave Morton. For every year Dave served as town manger, he was equally as invested and supportive of Casco Days.

One of Dave’s biggest claims to Casco Days fame was his involvement with the beloved beano tent. He began as Ralph Maines’ assistant and eventually became the Chairman of the game, which is always a focal point of gathering over the weekend. He also called out beano numbers for a long stretch of time, with his recognizable and lovable voice.

Most importantly, Dave believed in Casco Days wholeheartedly, and was incredibly supportive during his tenure as town manager. He believed so much in the people of Casco, the event and the importance of community gathering. There are so many stories to share about Dave, like the year we lost power and Dave helped to run generators to keep the weekend going. Or the many times it has rained profusely (but the show must go on!) and Dave would be physically pushing water off the beano tent while people sought shelter from the storm.

Casco Days will not be the same this year without him, but his spirit lives on through Casco Days Park, the town of Casco and all of the lives he has touched. Click here to read more about his wonderful life and legacy.
